Design and Development of Spark plug part no SP 87PA of AL-31FP aero engine

Description

The spark  plug is connected to high voltage generated by an ignition coil. As current flows from the coil, a voltage develops between the central and side electrodes. Initially no current can flow because the fuel and air in the gap is an insulator, but as the voltage rises further it begins to change the structure of the gases between electrodes. Once the voltage exceeds the dielectric strength of the gases, the gases become ionized. The ionized gas becomes a conductor and allows current to flow across the gap in the form of spark.

This spark plug should have form fit condition to  be assembled in main combustion chamber of the AL-31FP engine with minimum  life of 1000 flying hrs. Maximum weight of the part is 0.28 kg max.
