Concreting in extreme low temperatures

Concreting is not recommended to be carried out in ambient temperatures below 10° C in order to ensure predictable concrete behaviour.

In extremely cold region like Ladakh, the ambient temperature during the day are above 10° C only from Apr to Oct. Thus working season is curtailed and as a result infrastructure projects take double the time to be executed.

These restrictions not only enhance the overall cost of work but also delay time bound execution of infrastructure projects in border areas.
